Effects of Covert Narcissism and Anger Rumination on Overt and Relational Aggression Among Adolescents

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of covert narcissism and anger rumination on aggression and to explore mediating role of anger rumination in a link between covert narcissism and aggression. The data of this study was collected from 641 middle school students in a metropolitan city, utilizing Narcissism Scale(CNS), K-Anger Rumination Scale(K-ARS), Peer Conflict Scale(PCS). The data were anlyzed using correlation analysis, Multiple Regression, and And Baron and Kenny's(1986) model. The results of the study are as follows. First, covert narcissism was positively correlated to aggression and overt and relational subtypes of aggression. Anger rumination was positively correlated to aggression and overt and relational subtypes of aggression. Additionally, covert narcissism was positive correlated to anger rumination. Covert narcissism and anger rumination had positive effect on aggression and overt and relational subtypes of aggression. Lastly, anger rumination partially mediated the relations between covert narcissism and aggression. Implications for future research are dicussed.
